Frequently asked questions
How do I compress a photo to exactly 50 KB (or any limit)?
Pick a target — 50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB or a custom number — and SqueezePix automatically finds the highest JPEG quality that fits under it. If quality alone can't get there, the image is scaled down just enough to fit.
Will compressing reduce my image's dimensions?
Only as a last resort. The tool first lowers JPEG quality; dimensions shrink only when even the lowest reasonable quality can't reach your target, and the output card tells you when that happened.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. SqueezePix runs entirely in your browser — files are opened and processed on your own device and never transmitted anywhere. You can even load the page, go offline, and keep working.
Does compression remove EXIF and GPS metadata?
Yes — compressed files are re-encoded without metadata blocks, which also makes them a little smaller. A keep-EXIF option is planned.
